Inspired by a tranquil urban farm surrounded with the daily stir of her Southeastern hometown, Susan Clanton is best regarded for artwork that breathes life into seemingly ordinary subjects. She uses oils, soft pastels, and pencils to capture subjects among their native environments. Her work constructs a visage identifying each subject as a unique blend of personality and appearance. Exploring interplay between warm and cool coloring allows her to create imagery that arouses viewer emotion and wonder.
Clanton’s work has been featured throughout the state of Alabama. Accolades include the Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival, Panoply Arts Festival, Magic City Art Connection, Event Magazine, Valley Planet, and others.
Portraits and pet portraits are available by commission. She also offers for sale a collection of landscape and still life pieces.
